Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) - Segment:
We Visited a Bicycle Shop in Fernie, BC;
While Waiting, We Performed a Town Walking Tour

Highlights
    Day 5:
  • We took the Tandem Bicycle into Fernie and got the loose or missing nuts and bolts sreplaced.
  • We stopped at a hardware store to purchase spare bolts and nuts.
  • We had a wonderful and delightful walking tour about Fernie while waiting for the bike repairs.
  • We moved our shuttle vehicle to the Roosville Border Station which is about 100 miles due south (by highway).
  • Upon our return to Elkford, we began to load our bike for another 4 day adventure on the GDMBR.
  • While packing the bike, we discovered a broken spoke on the rear wheel.
  • The loss of another day was going to affect our schedule, we could no longer complete the GDMBR in our allotted time setting. The complete effect will be determined after the bike is repaired.

Broken Spoke

Late in the afternoon, we discovered a broken spoke. Late in the afternoon, we discovered a broken spoke

Above: Late in the afternoon, while packing our repaired bike, we discovered a broken spoke. We needed to take the bike back to town and the added time would cause us to change our plans. We no longer had the time to complete riding the entire GDMBR Canada in one time setting.


Summary
We took the Tandem Bicycle into Fernie and got the loose or missing nuts and bolts situation addressed. We had a wonderful and delightful walking tour about Fernie while waiting for the requested bike repairs. We also moved our shuttle vehicle to the Roosville Border Station which is about 100 miles due south (by highway). Upon our return to Elkford, we began to load our bike for another 4 day adventure on the GDMBR. HOWEVER upon packing the bike, we discovered a broken spoke on the rear wheel.

The loss of another day was going to affect our schedule, we could no longer complete the GDMBR in our allotted time setting.
