Highlights
Day 4:
Bridger National Forest is named for Jim Bridger, perhaps the most well-known of all the Mountain Men.
TRIVIA: Most of the Mountain Men were clean shaven and most Native American females (Squaws) would not take a bearded man as a mate [Source - Mountain Man Museum in Pinedale, Wyoming].
We saw an abundance of Antelope and we later learned that the area North, West, and South of Pinedale, WY, is a major Antelope Spring/Fall Migration Route Crossing (aka Wildlife Game Crossing), so much so that the State had to build two Wildlife Game Crossing Bridges over US Hwy 291 just for the Antelope. In addition, as we approached US-291 the roadside was fenced to keep Antelope (wildlife) out/off-the-road and about every 300 yards One-Way Jump-Outs were created to let any Antelope Off the Highway enclosure.
There was a lot of standing water near town but the Mosquitos were not too bad (yet).
The Pinedale area was where a lot of Mountain Man & Fur Trappers met for Rendezvous in the winter.
Pinedale has an excellent Mountain Man Museum and we visited it. The museum has Jim Bridger's Hawken Rifle on display.
Pinedale, Wyoming, is in Sublette County, named for William Sublette, a well-known Mountain Man.
Day 4 - From the Trail Head near Kendall Ranger Station to Pinedale (Log Cabin), Wyoming
Above Left: We started near the handy bathrooms at the trail head parking lot. This is the Bridger-Teton National Forest Boundary.
Above Right: The road immediately changed from dirt to paved. Most of our ride was to be dowhill to Pinedale.
