Day 11: Touring China by Bicycle;
Today, we spend one last morning in Yangshou
and take an afternoon Flight from Guilin to Xian
(Capitol of 18 of the 20 Chinese Dynasties and
Location of the Terracotta Warriors).
Day 11 Begins
Above Left: Check out the intricate carved columns of the hotel.
We need to walk to town, about 2 kilometers, to enjoy the early morning. The mood is calm and relaxing as we have been going full tilt for 10 days. We have nothing on the agenda other than to pick up our laundry.
Above Right: Assorted herbal medicines (mostly) of a high quality street vendor.
Above: Bicycles for rent, mostly single speed, and some tandem comfort bikes.
Above Left: Mixed Pharmacy (modern and herbal).
Above Right: Administration Building.
Above Left: Almost all stairways have bicycle ramps on the side.
Above Right: Restaurant seating. We stopped in for Coffee and Hot Chocolate as our laundry was not finished on time.
Above Left: Restaurant Walkway Flowers.
Above Right: We get the early morning streets almost to ourselves. This is the first time that we've noticed a Chinese Flag that was not part of a government building or facility.
Above Left: Lunch; Lady Susan (from a previous day's story); Life is Good.
Above Right: Guilin Airport Entrance.
Above Left: Group Ticket Counter.
Above Right: Our Carriage Awaits Us.
Above Left: Destination Xian.
Above Right: Xian luggage carrousel for flight from Guilin. We had an easy comfortable transport.
Above Left: Home for the next two nights. Note: We are no longer in the South China Tropics (we are now in the center of China); day time temperatures are 19°C (65°F) and night time temps are 5-7°C (40s F). It is now Jacket and Long Pants Weather.
Above Right: Night Stand: Centrally controlled lighting (only half the buttons operated what was labeled in Chinese and English - this is par for all hotel light control consoles); we always have a flashlight next to the bed side (experience); watch alarm (I must remove my watch/alarm because I can't hear the alarm if I wear the watch and the watch and arm are under a pillow); I finished my reading book so I'm re-reading Terry's book (we both read more of our books on the overseas flight than we intended - we will both buy new books in Beijing).
Tomorrow we get to see the Terracotta Warriors ('X' on the ol' Dream List)!
My companion is also an 'X' on the ol' Dream List
