Birkweiler (near the Black Forest and France),
Germany: About Noon
Early in the morning we said our Goodbyes to Ray. Ray is a wonderful host and person. Ray is a Berlin Airlift baby and my Uncle was a Medic/Soldier in Germany at the same time (who worked with Berlin families). We departed from Schwangau and then we proceeded to drive our rental car all morning long, heading northwest towards the Rhine Region near the French border. We drove through Stuttgart and Mannheim westward to Landau and then east on A-10 toward the Black Forest. We stopped at the first town on the Weinstraße off of A-10, Birkweiler.

Above: We're still exploring Hambach - We're having fun doing this. The Hambacher Schloss is just barely visible above the roof (looks like a chimney in this picture).

Frankfurt: Evening
Above: We've checked into our hotel for the night, we're about 30 kilometers from downtown Frankfurt and 15 kilometers from the airport. We will walk around the neighborhood to wind down but will not have a chance to be Frankfurt tourists (this time).
Classic Teutonic Bedding: A single cover over twin beds; each person has a separate cover; the cover is a Blanket placed inside a sheet shell (pocket); there are two mattresses and if you sleep in the middle, you will feel the crack. This is better than most beds; most beds are completely separate, just pushed together.

Above Right: Airport, note the separate entrances for First Class and the Other Class.
