Day 1
All Above: These Peruvian Culture Figures were in the Hotel Tambo's main floor Dining Room. Tambo means resting place and the word crosses many South American Native Languages.
City Walking Tour, Lima, Peru

Above: We walked by the Inca Market but not inside, we will return later.
Above: Lunch, we bought these items at a food market; we only know the Blue Berries by name. It was all very good!
The Main Square of Lima, the Plaza de Mayor, is a former Inca Temple and

Basílica de Santo Domingo, Basílica del Santísimo Rosario del Convento de Santo Domingo, y Museo del Convento de Santo Domingo Nuestra Señora del Rosario
The Huaca Huallamarca Temple
and the Museo de Sitio Huallamarca
Above: The Huaca Huallamarca time period is estimated to be from around 200 BC to 700 CE (roughly the time as the Roman Empire), they were also known as "Pan de Azúcar" (Sugar Bread). The Huaca occupied primarily the central part of today's Peru.
Huaca (Wak'a) has the following meanings: a god of protection, a sacred place, or a sacred object (depending on content). Hualla (Walla) means people. Marca means village.
Notes:
- This area (the San Isidro district of Lima, Peru) also had two more "occupation periods" after the Lima Culture (from where the city name derives), the Ishma (around the 11th century) and Incas (or Inkas, 15th and 16th century). Source: www.limaeasy.com.
- This site has served different purposes over time, a temple, a cemetery and later a settlement.
- The weather has been semi-arid for millenniums. So the Mud/Adobe/Brick Construction has endured longer than would be found in Temperate or Tropical Climates.
- The location is in today's Lima (Peru's Capital City) about 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, next to a river from the Andes.
- Excavations began 1958.
Punto Azul Restaurant and Ceviche
Above Left: Menú de Punto Azul (Blue Point Menu).
Above Right: The 'Preparacion' and 'Ingredientes' of Ceviche - When in Rome ...
Above Left: Chicha or Chicha de Maiz, a popular Purple Liquor made from Blue Corn. It is also available as non-fermented and it can be made from other kinds of Corn. We tried Chicha and Ceviche (and other new foods to us).
Above Right: Ceviche.
Above Left: Unique Restaurant Decor - For the record, Lima has more 5 Star Restaurants than any any other city in South America, this was a surprise to us.
Above Right: All corn grown in Peru has extra large kernels. The same corn has been planted elsewhere without the same results; it is the Climate of Peru that makes corn kernels extra large.
Above: Teresa's meal, before and after lowering the soup level. It was great!
