Above Left: Liberidad is the local Province of which Trujillo is the Capitol.
Above Left: Pizzaro - A play on words Pizza, Bizaro, and Francisco Pizarro.
Francisco Pizarro was the Spanish Explorer who led an expedition that conquered the Inca Empire. Pizarro is NOT well liked around South America. Oddly, Francisco Pizarro became Governor of Peru and was assassinated (in his 60s) in Lima Peru, in 1541.
Above Right: "Chifa" is Peruvian for China, ergo Chinese Food.
Above Left: Peru surprised us in many positive ways. One, it is very clean, perhaps the cleanest of the countries that we have visited south of the USA. Two, they do not have a "Siesta". Three, they are very industrious (I think that this mindset comes from native roots). Four, they take pride in having many Gastronomic talents (Lima supposedly has more Four Star Restaurants than any other Capital City in Central and South Americas). Five, Peru is a melting pot for cultures all around the Pacific Rim (Remember the Reed Boat Exploration Oral Stories, Mysterious Trade Goods, and Kon-Tiki - All from Peru). Six, The Amazon River starts in or near Peru on the other side of the Andes. Pizarro never defeated the Incas, he only decapitated the leadership; a large group of Inca tribesmen disappeared into the Amazon Forest (like what is known about Machu Picchu's inhabitants, when a person listens to the natives).
Above Right: El Carmen belongs to the order of the barefooted Carmelite. It was founded in 1724, for nuns that arrived from Quito. After the earthquake of 1759 it had to be reconstructed. It has a valuable collection of paintings and regrettably the Church is closed.

We had a good day touring Trujillo!
That evening we flew back to Lima and the Tambo Hotel
