In English, 'Å' (A Ring) is pronounced as an 'aw' sound.
Above Left: Self serve Continental Breakfast at the Norra Vättern Hotel. Above: We get to ride the lake side on the way out of town. We will get lost at some point, but all we do is find an east bound big road, no big deal. Above: Found a Hobbit Home.
Above Left: Slug (we saw one about every 50 meters/yards on the dirt pathway around the lake). Above: Roads leading out of town.
Above Left: This is subtle, but someone has marked a rock with a Happy Face and the rock is really a marker for a dirt road on the opposite side.
Above Left: We're looking at the interior decorating. We waved at one another.
Above Left: Huge Greenhouse and customer parking area.
Above Left: House with interesting windows.
Above Left: Railroad Overpass.
Above Left: Nice old home.
Above Left: Warmed up a little, now I'm wearing a Green Flannel Outer-Shirt and Terry is wearing her Red Flannel Outer-Shirt. Above: we're looking at the upper 2nd story windows.
Above Left: Old forest floor. Above: Shooter's Blind/Chair. Above: Mommy and Colt. The Colt is busy eating, or else it would be closer to Mommy, with us being around.
Above Left: Horses.
Above Left: A butterfly visits - It is warm enough to briefly take off our outer shirts. Above: We're in Horse Country, it's much like the back roads of Kentucky.
Above Left: We're heading toward Örebro, but Regna is in between with a population of about 20 people, so we won't see signs to Regna until we get much close closer. Above: This could be Iowa (Iöwå with American/Swedish Humor).
Above Left: The house is special with a plaque in Swedish Text, but we could not figure it out.
Above Left: We're in 'Boo' (sometimes 'Bo') and this is the Boo Kyrka Sign and the church goes back to 1733. Some historically famous Swedes come from this little area. The Town is important to us because we will divert off of the Sverigeleden and head for lodging at Regna. It's the only lodging for 50k in any direction (we are really remote). Above: The Cemetery at Boo Kyrka Titan Tall Head Stones.
Above Left: Hugo-Adolf Hamilton, FÖDD 2/10/1802 - DÖD 3/6/1871.
Above Left: Svede's call it the Pink Castle; we would call it a Pink Manor.
Above Left: 'Bo' is the name of the Town and probably of the Family. 'Gods' means Goods. 'Magazin' means Magazine and that is a military word for Small Arsenal Storage with Powder.
Above Left: Pink Castle with strollers and bicycles.
Above Left: This is equivalent to Entering a New County: 'East Ingot Lands County'. Above: Lunch across an open field. The sun is in our eyes but the spot is warm with no wind, it is just right for right now.
Above Left: Another Logging Camp - By the way, the loggers and drivers were always careful and considerate while operating around us, and we to pulled over and waited a couple of times for trucks going by or for loader operations.. Above: We broke out of the forest into pasture land with about 3 more kilometers of travel (to our Regnagården Hostel destination).
Above Left: A field of Clover.
Above Left: We are standing in a road intersection, this is the sign to our right hand side that demonstrates where we have been (Bo) as well as where we are going (Regna).
Above Left: Century old dwelling, maybe two.
Above Left: The Church at Regna, Sweden.
Above Left: Our room for the night. The bathing/toilet facilities are down the hall but we are the only guests.
Above Left - The STORY: The Regna Area had a Fire Department composed of local people and funding. They bought a Packard (30s/40s Model?) and converted it to a Fire Truck (see the left most picture on the wall). Later in time, the Packard was retired and it ended up in a local field to its slow demise (see the middle picture on the wall). Our Hostel owner, a local born and bred resident and part time Fire Volunteer decided to obtain the vehicle and restore it to its original condition, even before it was converted to a Fire Truck (See the right most picture on the wall). See Milsten/Milestone for an explanation. Above: I believe that Hembygdsgågard is a Swedish (perhaps near German too) word/expression/name for Village of Restored Dwellings.
Above Left: When the musical group ABBA first started, before their fame, they played here, on this open air stage, for a summerfest event - They were a smash hit. Above: Two Hole'r - His and Hers. |
