Our 3 Hour Drive from Katrineholm to Nynäshamn was in the Dark and was Uneventful.
Above Left: We have already paid for our Ferry Ride Tickets. We are waiting for our boarding moment. The Barn Red Volvo on the right is our rental vehicle. It is turbo charged and goes fast if one is careless on the pedals. We drive 95% on Cruise Control. Above Right: That is Terry, walking toward the camera, she was checking out which boarding ramp that we were going to use. We used the stern's starboard folding ramp. This ocean going Ferry Ship is Huge.
Above Left: While we are waiting, we meet a very excited former Estonian named Antz ("Aunz, Not Ants" - I'm quoting him) who was watching a Sea Eagle (looks like an American Bald Eagle). We talked for a while and shared his binoculars; he too was a Boy Scout as a kid..
Above Left: That's Terry and we are 'Plotting' our immediate and future Travels as well as we can for right now. We have a plan but we are flexible to change.
Above Left: The port windows are convex, which distorts the view a little but it strengthens the plexi-glass from external wave or debris impact. Above: We had to park outside the walled city and walk, there are a lot of parallels between our Visby visit and our Rothenburg ob der Tauber visit. Above: We have found and are entering the Östlig Gate (there are Söd; and Nord Gates too).
Above Left: A view through the Östlig Gate. The Sheep-Ram statue is a disguised cement barrier to prevent drive though traffic. We're Walking South/Södra but Taking North Facing Pictures (because of the Sun) We're Walking North and taking North Facing Pictures (because of the Sun) We've reached the Wall near the center of the East/Östlig Side and We're Walking North and taking North Facing Pictures (because of the Sun) Above: These homes are 300 to 400 years old, with subtle modern updating. Above: Turrets and Gate on the Norr Wall. We will head West/Västra and outside of the gate for more observations.
Above Left: Model of where we were. We're Walking South/Södra through Town toward the East/Östlig Gate and We're often taking North Facing Pictures (because of the Sun) Above: 1235 Dominican Church/Monastery, see below. Above Left: There is, what appears to be, a very old Gothic remnant church archway in the center of the picture. Above: Two Different Windmills, on the south/södra side of Visby proper.
Above Left: Overview of the Visby Seaport -
The furthest ship was ours.
