Change of Plans, Story: We're getting up and leaving earlier than the proprietor is used too, usually he would make a warm breakfast but we are up at 0400, packing our goods, eating cold cereal and leaving by 0430. Due to a Ferry Ship being down for unexpected maintenance (thank you Internet) we have to be at Nynäshamn (3 hour drive) tomorrow at 0900 to catch the one and only Ferry (to a pre-booked Motel at Visby on Gotland Island). This means that we now have to pick up our rental car today (a change of plans) and because it is Sunday (almost all commercial establishments are closed on Sundays) we have made special arrangements to pick-up our Rental Car (Car Hire) at 3 PM, today, in Katrineholm (our bike destination for the day). We are cycling back to the Dufweholms Herrgårdwhere Hotel/Inn, where we started the Bike Tour 7 days ago.
Above Left: We have picked up our bikes from a secure and locked garage, by pre-arrangement, and locked the garage afterwards.
Above Left: Daybreak, literally.
Above Left: heading toward Högsjö for the moment. Bruk means Farm.
Above Left: Toward Hävla. Above: I saw the ears a long ways away. Previous Deer sightings have been as we were pedaling by the Deer. Even Terry has not seen any of my Deer sightings until now, we are actually about 300 meters/yards away and the camera is in full telephoto mode (4x). By the second picture, Terry pulled up beside me, knowing full well what was happening; Terry got to see this Deer (it is good).
Above: A single Deer (doe). This one was very dark. Dennis saw a fawn colored doe the first day and two yesterday. Today, we saw this dark Doe. Before 1000 hours, today, we will see 10 more deer, two will be dark, only two will have stubby horns (not with females), and twice we saw two sets of does with one fawn in each set. The horns will continue to grow until November or so and they will lose the horns in February or so. Above: Bruksmiljö (we think); we're turning left (staying on the main road). Bruks Miljö means Mill Industry.
Above Left: Village of Hävla, Katrineholm sign in the background.
Above Left: Sign for Katrineholm, 29k. We have also found the Yellow Sign Näckrosleden Bikeway that will lead within 1/2 k of our destination. The little Green Sign is the Sverigeleden Bikeway.
Above Left: Whereas Bruk means Farm (in English), Bruks means Industry (or Industrial). This is the Häfla Iron Works, established in 1682. It, like all Steel Mills, is located on a river; I believe it is on the Häfla River (we have already pedaled through the small village of Häfla).
Above Left: Industrial grounds: inventory awaiting disposition. Above Left: We are near a School Bus Stop. Bored kids (probably) have placed a rock on top of each flat surface, including tree stumps; it's interesting.
Above Right: Same area, a while back in time, kids painted rocks as frogs and lady bugs and placed them on this old Milsten distance marker. See Milsten/Milestone for a Distance Marker Explanation. Above: View of each direction, we stopped here for a little break. Above: Old Barns, all of the old barns (100+ years old) are built on rock foundations, it was easier to build up then than it was to dig, like is done now.
Above Left: The biggest rosehips ever seen by us.
Above Left: Automobile yielding a safe clearance, very common in Sweden. Above: Main train line tracks. We know that this set of tracks is positioned just before Katrineholm.
Above Left: Katrineholm. Above: Hydraulic (water) Electrical Power Generators at Katrineholm, Sweden. This is a kaleidoscope of Power Point and MS-ICE soft works.
Above Left: Sign on the roadway, Children at Play, our bikeway merged with a village street.
The Bicycle Tour is over.
Above Left: It took me a while to figure this out; the first two structures had no bike(s) and was located at an empty school yard. This is an apartment building, and the structure is a bicycle parking shelter.
Above Left: Kind of like a Greek Hero Sandwich Shop (Hot and Cold Dishes).
Above Left: Swedish Telephone/Telefon Structure.
Above Left: Purple/Pink Flowers.
Above Left: Swedish Armillary Sphere.
Above Left: Dinner.
Left: 300 year old, very expensive, fire place insert. |
